Premera has shared that attackers have gained unauthorized access to the Premera IT systems and may have accessed the personal information of our employees and other people they do business with. The privacy and security of our employees personal information is a top priority for Premera. Notice of the breach was addressed in the media today at noon Seattle time and Premera is sending letters to all employees affected by this cyberattack.
At this time Premera is providing two years of free credit monitoring and identity theft protection services through Experian to affected individuals. They have also established a dedicated member Hot Line at 800-768-5817, Monday through Friday, between 5:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. Pacific Time. Premera regrets the frustration and concern this incident may cause and are taking additional actions to strengthen and enhance the security of their IT system.
Employees should be aware that Premera will not be emailing or making unsolicited telephone calls in regards to this attack. Any such contact should be viewed as a phishing attempt and employees should not gave out any personal information if they are contacted.
